A Brand New Board!

March 10th saw a new board elected during the trap\door AGM. We are excited to welcome so many new faces, and having a total of 9 board members is wonderful as well. We invite everyone to contact and get to know the new board, and find out how to get involved in this wonderful organisation.

Board members:

Sarah Christensen- secretary/treasurer

Trap\door Artist Run Centre Call for Submissions

ASHLAND INSTITUTE FOR BUTTON TECHNOLOGY

deadline: September 1 & March 1

Trap\door Artist Run Centre is now accepting submissions for exhibitions in the Ashland Institute of Button Technology, a vending machine stocked with 1” artist-designed buttons and placed in various locations in downtown Lethbridge. Each exhibition in the Ashland Institute will run for at least one month, or until the majority of the buttons are sold.

Artists are asked to submit a minimum of 3 designs, colour or black and white, to Trap\door Artist Run Centre, either by post or by email. Please see our button template at www.trapdooorarc.com/buttontemplate.pdf for layout details.

Trap\door will produce 250 buttons in total, with 50 buttons going to the artist in lieu of an artist fee and 200 buttons placed in the vending machine for sale at $1 each. In the case of group shows, each artist will receive 10 buttons. Unsold buttons will go into Trap\door’s archive or be sold at a later date.

Established in 2005, the Ashland Institute has been a significant source of revenue for Trap\door, with all money raised going towards programming. Placed in coffee shops, pubs, and other public spaces, the Ashland Institute for Button Technology provides an ideal alternative venue for artists wishing to escape the museum and create collectible multiples.
